New research examines pandemic impacts on family violence

Good Shepherd recently contributed to research undertaken by The Centre for Family Research and Evaluation (CFRE) at Drummond Street Services, in partnership with RMIT’s Centre for Innovative Justice (CIJ) and the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS).

Future-proofing Safety is a comprehensive examination of how family violence presentation changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how Victorian support services adapted to the increase in family violence.  The first portion of this project is now released: three interactive case studies from GenWest, Drummond Street Services and Good Shepherd, which analysed service data to understand changes in family violence presentation and co-occurring needs. The learnings from this research will have the potential to shape and improve Victoria’s systemic responses to family violence moving forward. Additional aspects of the project will be released over the coming months.
