Building a Financially Resilient Community Where People Thrive

In 2020, the Department of Human Services (DHS), Government of South Australia extended an opportunity for Good Shepherd to leverage the learnings and experiences of the Geelong Place-based FIAP program and develop a similar program to address the local challenges to financial wellbeing in Northern Adelaide (specifically the Playford and Salisbury LGAs).

Our goal has involved forming a coalition of organisations from across the local government, business, academic and community sectors, to enable them to develop and implement strategy aligned actions which promote financial resilience and wellbeing of vulnerable communities in Northern Adelaide.

Good Shepherd has engaged with 9 other local organisations to co-design over 50 measurable actions which are documented in the Northern Adelaide Foundation FIAP launched on 12 April 2022.

Out of these committed actions, 17 actions focus on improving access to Products and Services; 12 actions to increase an Understanding of Financial Vulnerability; 9 actions to improve Financial Capability; and 13 to enhance Economic Security.
