Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse and intersex clients welcome
30 August 2018
Today, the Family Safety Victoria faith-based family violence service provider network made a public statement of support for LGBTIQ people and their communities. Network members include Jewish Care, Anglicare, Uniting Care, Vincent Care, Mackillop Family Services, Good Samaritan Inn, McCauley Community Services for Women, The Salvation Army, Sacred Heart Mission, Uniting Church in Australia and Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand.
Unveiled by Ro Allen, Commissioner for Gender and Sexuality, the statement reads: “We welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, gender diverse and intersex (LGBTIQ) people at our services. We pledge to provide inclusive and non-discriminatory services to LGBTIQ clients.”
Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand is proud to make this pledge, which aligns with our commitment to being safe and inclusive, regardless of sex, gender identity or sexuality.
Our commitment is voluntary, is supported by Family Safety Victoria and led by service providers in the network. In addition to this statement of commitment, Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand is working towards being accredited as a Rainbow Tick organisation. This accreditation will demonstrate our ability to deliver inclusive, non-discriminatory services to LGBTIQ clients and continuously improve the quality of service we provide to LGBTIQ clients and staff.
