Good wishes for Sister Mary Carroll
19 December 2017
After more than 30 years working as a Chaplain with women in the prison system, Good Shepherd Sister Mary Carroll is retiring.
Sr Mary joined the Good Shepherd Sisters in 1956, following in the footsteps of her aunt Kath. For the past 30 years her work has taken her to Fairlea Women's Prison, Dame Phyllis Frost Centre at Ravenhall, and Tarrengower Minimum Security Prison. She has also worked in youth detention centres and in outreach with women on the streets in St Kilda, Victoria.
In 2010, Sr Mary won the first Good Shepherd “Spirit of St. Mary Euphrasia” Award. She is renowned for building strong relationships with the women she works with and being truly present for them.
We congratulate and thank Sr Mary for making such a significant difference to the lives of women in our community.
