Day one for our new CEO

12 February 2018

We are thrilled to announce that Stella Avramopoulos joins Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand today as CEO. Stella is an influential leader in the community and government sectors with a proven record of delivering positive outcomes for communities.

“My commitment to the financial, social and physical security of women and girls is the bedrock on which I have built my career,” said Stella.

“Having seen the impact that excellence in services and policy can bring to vulnerable people, I value the work Good Shepherd is performing every day, and the work we aspire to carry out in the future.

“I am firmly committed to disrupting intergenerational cycles of disadvantage and enable fullness of life, especially for women and girls. This is our purpose.”

Stella was CEO of Kildonan UnitingCare between 2008 and 2017, leading the organisation through significant growth and transformation. In addition to working at Kildonan in a range of management positions, Stella’s experience spans correctional services at the Victorian Department of Justice and in local government youth services.

Stella is President of the Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) and her insight into the sector is sought from various boards and industry forums. Stella holds or has held positions with the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS), the National Centre for Social Impact Studies Advisory Board, the Australian Bankers’ Association Industry Strategy Working Group, the Australian Communication and Media Authority, and the Family Peace Foundation. In 2015 Stella was named by Pro Bono Australia as one of the 25 most influential people in the social services sector.
