- $86,546 pro rata ($43.80/hour) + super, salary packaging (up to $18,000 tax free/year) & gifted leave
The Financial Counsellor will provide face to face and telephone based financial counselling services, information, advice, support, advocacy and referral for consumers, thereby assisting consumers to make informed decisions on the best course of action to resolve their financial difficulties, and/or to build their capacity in the ability to manage their financial affairs.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Provide face to face and telephone based financial counselling services, information, advice, support, advocacy and referral for consumers.
- Assist consumers to make informed decisions on the best course of action to resolve their financial difficulties, and/or to build their capacity in the ability to manage their financial affairs.
- Assist people from diverse backgrounds with complex needs in a way that is respectful, ethical, nonjudgmental, appropriate, and professional
- Develop relationships with and utilize local networks to provide information and make referrals to other support services
- Work with others in the team to support best practice and beneficial client outcomes through professional and ethical teamwork.
- Liaise with team members and wider agency intake processes to ensure smooth rostering and scheduling of client appointments
- Actively participate in reflective practice & supervision processes.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Minimum Financial Counselling qualification (Diploma in Financial Counselling)
- Eligibility for registration with relevant state financial counselling peak body
- Demonstrated knowledge of the financial and credit industries and their relevant governing legislation, and the community services system
- Demonstrated capacity to work flexibly and respectfully with a diverse range of people, including people with cultural, gendered, social and economically diverse backgrounds, who experience health concerns or disabilities, carers and people who have not previously accessed a community service system
- Demonstrated understanding of a trauma informed approach, including risk assessment and response to family violence and economic abuse
- Current driver’s licence
- You may need to provide evidence of Covid-19 vaccination, or medical exemption
