Overview

As an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role is accountable for overseeing the business operations of GSANZ, ensuring that core Infrastructure and effective financial and operational governance and processes are in place.

Responsibilities

Establish and transform the COO portfolio of services, to ensure effective and mature operations and investment portfolio leverage for an Organisation on GSANZs growth trajectory, whilst establishing streamlined internal operating procedures, foundational infrastructure, and governance to support Service portfolios to deliver for our Clients.

Business planning and performance:
— Contributing to the development and implementation of the GSANZ’s strategic plan
— Designing, establishing and leading GSANZ’s business planning rhythms, and ongoing Performance Management and Governance of Operational decision making across Client, Operational Excellence, People, Investment
— Improvement practices to significantly uplift maturity across the COO portfolio
— Supporting the Board, CEO and ELT colleagues in their respective portfolios via expert advice and business partnering

Finance:
— Leading GSANZ’s financial planning through the development and implementation of a Financial Management Strategy, budget and forecast processes, ensuring accurate and regular organisational budget performance reports
— Identifying, analysing and mitigating risks related to GSANZ’s financial liabilities, investments and financial dealings
— Identifying and making recommendation on investment strategies that improve the organisations financial bottom line and enable delivery on the GSANZ mission and strategic plan, including management of the property portfolio
— Ensuring cash flow is appropriate for the organisations’ operations
— Providing expert financial guidance to support the organization’s fundraising plans and activities
— Providing expert capital, credit and loan Services to support Economic Wellbeing and Enterprise client services

Reporting & Insights:
— Establish reporting & insights CoE to support provision of data for the purposes of impact reporting, management and operational reporting
— Define requirements for reporting and insights platform transformation, and define roadmap across operating model, process, system and capability to drive reporting & insights effectiveness
Procurement:
— Supporting management of vendor relationships and ensuring effective, best value procurement processes and associated contract management

Property:
— Implementing a comprehensive, sustainable plan for optimising and leveraging GSANZ’s substantial property and asset portfolio
— Management of Operational property strategy and projects, including maintenance, development and workspace improvement

Risk:
— Developing strategies to minimise commercial risks and understand relevant regulations and legislation that affect the day-to-day running of the organisation
— Leading risk management and operational performance, along with assurance and compliance frameworks

Legal:
— Supporting the Board, CEO and ELT colleagues in their respective portfolios via expert advice and business partnering

Payroll:
— Managing GSANZ’s payroll function, ensuring compliance and optimisation of systems.

Key Result Areas
— Currently under review.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business and/or Accounting
  • High level knowledge of information technology, procurement, property and payroll services.
  • 15+ years’ executive level experience in a Corporate Services role, experience In the community sector would be well regarded.,
  • Strong understanding of the funding, governance, legislative requirements and contemporary quality frameworks operating in the sector
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing high level strategy, frameworks and policy, preferably in a matrix managed environment with dispersed service delivery teams (preferably at national scale).
  • A satisfactory National Police Check
  • A satisfactory International Police Check (if you have resided outside of Australia within the last 5 years)
  • A current Employee Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) or state equivalent
