Celebrate at the Chapel

The Good Shepherd Chapel is a stunning backdrop for Catholic, interfaith and civil weddings. We have teamed up with award-winning events company Bursaria Catering to provide a complete package for wedding services held at the Chapel.

Located in the historic Abbotsford Convent precinct, the Chapel is surrounded by heritage listed buildings, landscaped gardens, a summer house, views of the Yarra River and the Collingwood Children’s Farm, providing lots of options for beautiful and unique wedding photos. Take a look at some here!

Funerals and memorials of all faiths can be held at the Chapel. Our Chapel coordinator provides caring, professional support and will work directly with your funeral company to make sure things run smoothly.

The Chapel seats 280 people. Audio equipment is available for the service and the fully restored organ—an original feature of the Chapel—can also be made available.

Looking for an unforgettable venue? The Chapel is a fantastic place to hold community activities such as music, concerts, choir performances, lectures, debates—pretty much anything! It even makes a great stage for films and plays.

With high ceilings and amazing acoustics, the main area seats 280 with standing room for extra people.

Upstairs is The Loft, a mezzanine space overlooking the altar, where the light cast through the Rose Window creates a tranquil atmosphere.

Beneath the church building, The Chapel Gallery is a unique venue for smaller groups. This contemporary, multi-purpose space is suitable for intimate activities, ranging from spiritual gatherings and meditation groups to art exhibitions. Catering facilities are also available.

We are accessible by public transport and there are car parks and street parking nearby, making your event easy to get to. Whenever possible we will allow you to install lighting, decorations and props for your event, upon approval.
